Curious...

Jess and I are speaking at a camp for the young men this Friday. They asked me to talk about what I was looking for in a husband. I have been thinking about this for a bit, and I have come up with a few things, but I was wondering, What types of things are/were on your list of attributes for your mate? I am wondering how closely they mirror what I was looking for. I would love to hear your thoughts on this, and I think it would help me sort out what to say on Friday. Thanks

My top three were: Testimony, no bad temper, and motivated about an education/supporting a family.

Someone that was responsible enough to take care of me and our family, someone that I could laugh with, and someone that I could be myself with. Good blog post! The kids are getting so big! I bet you go to the beach a lot this summer!

Someone to pick up the slack in the areas that I am weak...does that make sense?
Someone who would be a hands on Dad - very involved in the kids' lives, not just there to make the money to feed and clothe them.

My Four Things:

Righteous
Ambitious
Gets It (see the big picture of The Plan)
Smitten

The list was much longer before my mission, but after dating for 14 years, I got down to the essentials!;)

My mom always told me to be nice to everyone, not just the "cool" kids. She used to laugh and say that I would end up marrying that "nerd" that I never thought about dating. She was right.

Dating the "cool" guys was fun, but it got old. When I met Jim I just knew that he was ambitous, motivated, hungry, confident, and just a little bit curious. And he had a little "coolness" to him. :)

As long as we had the same wants, dreams, and beliefs on how to achieve those wants and dreams, I knew that we'd make it.

He had to make me laugh. Sure, looks are important, but they will fade eventually, and the humor never does. At least with Chad it hasn't. So, I guess, Humor, Honest and loyal.

A strong Christian pillar that will lead the family with confidence, love and humor. Ambitious, but not to the point that work comes before family! Priorities MUST be in order... God first, Family/wife second and work third ;) Close relationship with parents (shows his value of family). He has to value her opinion and trust in her completely. Physically active and health concious. ROMANTIC!!!!!! Romance does not have to be expensive... candles, sunsets, love notes, picked wildflowers, doing chores around the house without being asked (that's a BIG one for me!!!), walk in the park, take interest in her interest.... the list is endless!

Sorry so long... I got carried away describing my wonderful hubby!!! (but he could use a little more help with romance...ha!)
