The Fly Lady

A friend of mine introduced me to a book called "Sink Reflections" by Marla Cilley. In this book, she has a lot of great ideas for becoming organized and setting daily routines in pretty minimal time. Even though I am typically a very organized person, I have had a hard time keeping up with the size of this house. She has an awesome idea called "zone cleaning" where you spend a week in 1 of 5 zones of your house for 15 minutes each day! That seems pretty do-able to me, we'll see.
I told T. Jay that we were going to change how we were doing some things so that we could have a cleaner house. He asked how and I told him that they (the kids) were going to have to pitch in and help. He said, "You mean like slaves?" I kid you not! I don't know where he has learned about slavery, but I guess I've got some re-teaching to do. I told him that they would be responsible for keeping their things put away. Anyway, we'll see how it all goes, but I am optimistic. If any of you are interested, check out her website: www.flylady.net

Where am I?

Hello friends- Where in the heck have I been? Around. I was just telling Jess that I haven't blogged in forever and that I really didn't have all that much to talk about. My days pretty much consist of getting the kids off to school, errands, trying to catch up on some cleaning while they are gone, pick them up, play for a bit, dinner and then bed. Jess suggested that I take 10 pictures one day (maybe I'll only do 5) and post them, no matter how boring. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow. Anyone want to see me with my toilet brush? Ha! Ha!
I do wish that I had a voice recorder with me in the car on the way to church yesterday. Somehow we got onto the subject of how smoking is not healthy, even though some people choose to smoke anyway. Summer and T. Jay took turns coming up with reasons smoking is bad from it making your lungs yucky to it smells bad. T.Jay added at the end, "Mom, I've just got one more point about smoking..." One more point!? I can't remember what his point was because I was laughing quietly while he was telling me.
So, I am going to try and post more regularly, although I warn you it will probably be pretty mundane. Isn't the excitement and anticipation killing you?!!

First Day of School!

The first day of school finally arrived! They have been so excited for Monday to come. T Jay is in Kindergarten, and Summer is going to pre-school in the mornings! They both had a great day and talked non-stop about all that they did at school when I picked them up. Summer's favorite part of her first day was coloring. T. Jay's favorite part was math time because they did the chicken count, which is apparently some kind of counting play off of the chicken dance. I don't know. But he loved it! They cancelled school today due to tropical storm Fay, so they were a little bummed. I was glad to sleep in a little and take it easy. Back to school tomorrow, though

T Jay's Sixth Birthday Party

We had a pool party at our community pool. The kids had a great time swimming. T. Jay is being Micheal Phelps at his party. Do you think I have been watching too much of the Olympics coverage? Nah!
Grammy flew in from Colorado for T Jay's birthday! The kids loved having her here.
We came back to our house for the snack, cupcakes and pinata. That fish was unbreakable! It's a good thing I didn't plan any other games, because the pinata took forever! They loved it!!
T. Jay just asked me why he didn't get 50 100 swings at the pinata. I don't think he realized that he almost did!

T. Jay told me months ago that he wanted a pogo stick for his birthday. I have know idea where he even learned that they existed, but after being told weekly for three months that he wanted one, I found this great beginner one from Fisher Price. He is up to about 12 bounces at a time now! I am so glad it didn't turn out to be one of those toys that he asked for and then never played with like his roller skates from last year!

On this date in history...

We welcomed our first little angel! T Jay was the sweetest baby. He is a sweet boy, too.
Then... and now! Wow! It goes by fast!
He told me this morning, "Mom! I just can't believe that I'm six!" I can't believe it either, punkin!! Happy Birthday!

Life with our Monkey...

Climbing on the shelf in the toy closet.
Wearing T Jay's shorts and tennis shoes. He loves wearing other peoples things.
Matthew's art work. There are probably 7 different places that he could have posed. We are going to have to paint over it because despite the fact that they are supposed to be washable, I can't get it off!
Do you think that I am giving him the okay for coloring on the walls by having him pose in front of his work?
Matthew and 1 tube of lip gloss. I think he missed a spot, yeah, the spot called his lips! Teach or not to teach, that is the question!
I promise I do watch my child, he is just really fast. Once I figure out and neutralize one set of tricks, he's on to something new! What a ride...
